Forcing Corners
I am interested in pushing against corners to investigate and reveal what the corner means to me. For this work, I chose molten glass because it has surface tension that always becomes round. It is hard to make sharp and square edges and corners when the glass is molten, but it is easy to make sharp edges when cold glass shatters. These qualities of glass gave me the idea of how I want to communicate with corners. I softly touched the corners of a cold solid glass cube with molten glass, and the corner broke in response. The glass cube both destroyed corners and produced corners at the same time. As the process continued, the glass cube was getting smaller and smaller until it finally reduced to glass powder. However, the glass powder still had corners in a microscopic image.
