Wearing Rain
I was making a series of rain related work with glass during my stay in Bergen, Norway, one of rainiest cities in Europe. In Norway, there are many fashion trends related to the rainy climate. From this, I drew inspiration from a traditional Japanese raincoat called “Mino.” After you harvest rice, the rice straw would be used to make a traditional protection from rain. The straw contains silica, which is a principal component of glass. This work represents a type of glass raincoat.
