“I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

For this work, I recorded reflected images as they appeared on the surface of my iris and pupil during both daytime and nighttime. During the recording, I gazed through a big window in my studio, the image of which was visible as a reflection on my eye. I projected this recording onto a screen positioned exactly in front of the window.

Viewers observe my studio through the reflection from my eye, framed by my eyelashes and eyelids. The quality of video depends on the reaction of my eye. Details can become fuzzy and blurred if my eye is irritated or filled with tears. The video has the quality of a camera obscura. I become a camera that captures the environment that surrounds me. The viewer may see the reflection as an exterior element on my eye and body, but the process provides a glimpse of emotion and feeling regarding my interior thoughts. It appears that my body is transparent to absorb in the environment as Emerson said.
